About
I am Pranav Joshi, and I study Mathematics and Business Administration at the University of Waterloo. I grew up believing that numbers tell stories, and I have spent the years since trying to listen carefully to what they say.
My work lives where three languages meet: the precision of mathematical optimization, the logic of computer science, and the judgment of business analysis. I have shipped AI and automation systems into production, built agentic assistants that reason rather than merely reply, and watched tools I wrote quietly save companies thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours.
I am shaped as much by the competitions I have entered and the cases I have argued as by the contracts I have delivered. What moves me is curiosity, a stubborn love of mathematics, and the conviction that a well posed problem is already half solved. If any of this speaks to you, please reach out.
Experience
Served as a Senior Cadet in the 132 Spitfire Squadron, teaching aviation, military ethos, leadership, project management, and flight physics to a group of roughly thirty cadets. The classroom taught me that clarity is a form of respect, and that impromptu speaking is a skill you earn rather than inherit.
Designed and deployed AI powered automations for a fitness and Pilates startup, covering email workflows, customer review processing, data management, and user registration. I translated the company's operational needs into production workflows that, by the company's own estimate, returned more than two hundred hours each month and close to nine thousand dollars a year.
Developed and deployed AI powered automations on Google Cloud that streamlined core business processes. The systems generated an estimated eight thousand dollars in recurring annual savings, and taught me how much quiet value sits inside work that no one wants to do by hand.
Selected through The Knowledge Society to work with Interac's Innovation team on a personalized payments experience for Gen Z. I led product strategy, ran sprint planning and weekly mentor reviews, designed the user flows and Figma prototype, and built an agentic AI assistant with real decision logic using Python and the OpenAI API. We presented the final prototype and business case to Interac mentors in person.
Worked full time on a technical team at a fast moving startup, pioneering Othership's first serious use of AI and automation. I built and deployed production systems that saved more than twelve thousand dollars and three hundred hours a year, including an account auto merging workflow now processing over one hundred and fifty thousand accounts annually, an AI customer support bot, and a lease analyser pipeline built on GPT and RAG.
Academics
Convexity, duality, and the theory behind the optimization I use in practice. Studying convex sets, subgradients, and Lagrangian duality gave me the vocabulary to reason about why an algorithm converges, not merely that it does.
An introduction to the fundamental concepts and techniques of probability theory. This course covers random variables, distributions, and limit theorems.
The grammar of nearly everything computational, from least squares to the singular value decomposition. Working through matrix factorizations changed how I see data, as geometry waiting to be read rather than numbers waiting to be stored.
